Roots of Peace supports farmers in reclaiming their livelihoods after war. The organization works with international partners to remove land
“I think funders and nonprofits need to work more effectively together by trusting one another more,” says Vu Le, former Executive Director of Rainier Valley Corps and author of the irreverent and indispensable blog Nonprofit AF. “Many of the things we’ve been used to are archaic and ineffective—this treating of nonprofits as freeloaders instead of equal partners. This work is so challenging and we need to figure out how to work together.” Rainier Valley Corps promotes social justice by developing leaders of color, strengthens organizations led by communities of color, and fosters collaboration between diverse communities. As author of Nonprofit AF, Vu explores the common challenges and frustrations of the nonprofit sector and lovingly lampoons the philanthropic sector for its shortcomings.
